" It Was A Good Day"

Thank You David @ AuthorBlog

Yesterday was a really good day!Except that E-Blogger
has some major problems and it's hard to access my
blog and some others, posts are not updating ect. UGH !

Whatever caused my week long depression has gone!
I have received wonderful comments and e-mails with
some really helpful information. I thank all of you so much!

Several have expressed that I was the last person
they would expect to get depressed. Normally I am
a very positive person. I have had depression in the
past but I could point to a cause or at least what I
believed to be the cause. For example, my Mother's
death, my daughter's marriage to an abuser. However
there was no apparent cause for this episode. I went to
bed fine and awoke in a state of pure misery as though
someone has drugged me in my sleep! I do think there
is an underlying medical reason behind it. I am going to
talk to my doctor about doing a Thyroid check because
I've gained thirty pounds in 18 months but don't eat any
different than I've always ate. Maybe do a hormone check
also. I'm not going to push it aside because it was bad!

Back to a good day yesterday! I did a lot of house
cleaning and backed up laundry! YUK! It felt good
to be motivated if only to work. I walked around the
yard looking at the gardens and flowers. Saw beauty
and bounty everywhere! Picked Squash and Bell Peppers.

My Asparagus Fern on the screen porch is blooming!

I also took a walk in the woods out front and saw

this growing in the wet weather stream.............

I have know idea what it is except that I'm sure

it is a wildflower and it really is pretty............

I also saw this Crawdad Hole.................

The woods you see behind this Gardenia are

where I was walking................

This Gardenia is showing out!!

It is behind my St. Francis garden which is coming along

The Oleander outside "the porch" window is putting

on a show and the Hummingbirds love it!!

I told you yesterday I was changing out my bed linens.

This is the old and even though I've only had it on there

about a year, I wanted a different look for a spell......

Here's a close up...................

This is a close up of the new quilt.........

It is a Boston Color Collection Luxury

Handcrafted Averi Quilt. 100% Cotton

with cotton fill........

I knew nothing about these type quilts , for you quilters

this is what the front insert says:

"French Floral Chain Stitch embroidery embellishes this

fanciful quilt. Quilted with elegant vermicelli stitching/

boutis Quilting. Made of rich cotton with rayon yarn

embroidery................

I got it at Tuesday Morning. It was originally $ 410.00.

I paid $ 149.99.........

I also got a light weight Taupe Brown, Down Comforter

to go under it that was maked down from $110.00 to

$39.99 and a set of Queen 500 Thread Count Egyptian

Cotton sheets that had been marked down from$ 140.00 to

$ 49.99! Now if your thinking it's Summer and this will

be hot.....Hubby sets the Air at 66 at night .................

I'd freeze without this cover..........

They did not have the pillow shams to match the

Quilt but I'll keep looking.............

And so..........a look at my day yesterday!

Thank you God for helping me find the Rainbow at

the end of this..................

I love the new bed digs! My aunt had some MAJOR mood swings and gained a good bit of weight. She had her thyroid checked and that was what was causing her to be moody, bitchy and depressed. She is on meds now and doing much better. I hope you can find out something. I will be praying for you. Have a great weekend and Memorial Day

Beautiful bed. Amazing garden. I am so happy you are feeling better.

I would definitely get my thyroid checked if I were you. I was diagnosed ten years ago and it made a huge difference when I got on the right medication.

I hope your weekend it filled with rainbows.

Great bargains Carol! And beautiful too!. I am glad you feel a bit better, but I should go and see the doctor if I were you. Well I wish you a very great weekend! Thanks for showing the garden; it's lovely, Carol.

Carol Darlin', please please don't neglect passing on this info about your depression to your Doctors...I'd especially check the thyroid activity!
Don't you just love Tuesday Morning? I wish I lived closer than I do, but when I know there's a sale, I get up even earlier and am sitting in front of the door before they even open up! Love that guilt...it's GORGEOUS!
hugs
Sandi
ps
feel better, don't forget to talk to the doctors!

I love the new quilt Carol! Tuesday Morning can be an absolute treasure trove...I love shopping there.

My thyroid is checked at least once a year, because my mom has thyroid disease, but mine always comes back normal...I, too, have gained a lot of weight and I just want to sleep on the weekends. Be sure to get yours checked out...that could very well be what was causing your distress.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey, Carol -- That gardenia is Amazing! I have one in a pot that I baby through the winter in the greenhouse and it's about to bloom/

The white wildlower looks like one I've seen called Gooseneck or Loosestrife -- kinda but not exactly.

Happy that you're over the last week. A good idea to get a check up at the doc! My daughter had a thyroid problem when she was in her twenties! When she was researching it, she found that people can get it at any age.
I love your new bedding - so elegant!

Lovely purchases to lift one's mood, guaranteed. You are already harvesting bell peppers? How wonderful.

Blogger was giving me problems too. I was hoping it just wasn't my computer.

That gardenia bush is so beautiful. It's nice to get a look at things growing in other people's yards that I can't grow in zone 4.

Your new bed lines are very elegant. It's nice to get something new, to add a fresh touch once in awhile.

Hi Carol,

Happy to hear you feeling so much better, and shopping again! Your new bed linens are beautiful.Oh, and I like to keep the house nice and cool when it's hot out, and snuggle under a feather comforter at night.

You are so lucky to be harvesting green peppers and squash already. My zucchini is forming buds. But it will be a while yet, before I will be grilling some!

Your flowers are lovely, and a walk in the woods always lifts my spirits. Always!

It's so good to hear that you're your old chipper self again. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I'll cruising down the river in a jet ski this weekend! Oh, so fun!

Hugs and blessings,

Renie

Glad you are feeling better, Carol.. BUT--as others have said, maybe it's time to get your thyroid checked--and anything else which may be wrong.

I cannot relate. I've never experienced REAL depression. I have had some 'down' times usually caused when I'm upset about one thing --and that leads to many other (little things) that are wrong. Mine is more of a Pity Party and it doesn't last long at all. You situation may be something totally different. Get it checked out.

Your new quilt and bed set is very pretty. I hope you like it..

Your garden/yard is looking great. Love the Gardenia... Wow!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

My browser has kicked me out of your blog for a couple of days. Glad to see that you are feeling better.

I love your gardenia. We are marginal for them and planted a "hardy" variety but lost all three this year. Oh, and oleander...so beautiful.

I was unable to access your blog also, something about the Internet Explorer ??
Oh well you were not the only one.
I'm so glad to hear your feeling better, and I think your suggestion of getting a little bloodwork done is the best idea.
Love your new bed linens, they look cool and crisp for summer..
Keep looking up at the rainbow.
Hugs,
Jo

Wow, Carol, these photos are great. I love the depth of the last three...and that rainbow was captured beautifully.

I hope that you find out what is going on with your unexpected depression...do you think your artistic expression is related to moods...I think I sometimes write more vividly when I'm in a mood. (...silver lining and all that)Sometimes, I find out what is wrong later...when I realize I have buried a memory that wants to surface.

When a blue mood strikes, I go for a walk, accomplish something and
sometimes, I just give in and go to bed. What a cosy bed you have made...beautiful...

I hope your cheerfulness returns soon. It's such a downer to be suffering the blues...take care and love to you, Carol. <3

I love your pictures, the plants are bautiful. We routinely have blood tests once a year and I've been taking thyroid medicine for quite some time now. Go to the doctor! I love both the before and after bed linens!

There's always a rainbow with your name on it, Carol. Some day, however, they are just harder to find.

God bless ....

I know exactly what you are talking about. I am so glad you are out of that deep valley again. It is so wonderful being able to enjoy whatever one is doing, work sings, doesn't it, when one is not pulled down by some dark forces.
All the best to you,
happy Sunday,
M.

I'm so glad that you're feeling better Carol. As you know I battle off & on with that same demon. Sometimes feeling such intense despair & sadness I feel as if I can't go on and then just as suddenly as it descends it lifts and I am filled once again with joy and optimism. I have been assessed, and checked out and it seems it is just part of who I am and I'm slowly learning to ride those waves of depression because experience has proven that they do eventually pass. Good that you're getting your thyroid and hormone levels checked - I recently did the same. Turns out I am "exceptionally" healthy and "it's" all in my head ... but I already knew that at heart.

Thanks for all the lovely comments and much love to you & your Gang from les Gang here at 29 Black Street
