" YES SIR...That's My Babies "

I will be driving to Memphis, 300 miles, tomorrow to meet my daughter and pick up my gran babies Kohl and Molly who are coming to spend the week with Nana!We will spend the night in Memphis and return here on Monday. This is a hanging plaque they made me last Christmas.

These are the three books I plan to read to them while their here! One of the many pleasures of being a Nana! I also plan to take them to the beach for a picnic.

I caught my baby Jake napping on the dog couch today, as usual, flat of his back!

When the flash went off he turned and gave me a what for look! What for do you wake me up he says?

Like father like sons! They definitely get this from Jake. Sadie never sleeps on her back.

We took the babies outside today for a play time!

They had a ball! They can move fast in the grass!

Hubby calls Hoss and he came running!

We had as much fun watching as they did playing!

In fact they whined when I took them back in!

Yes Sir, that's my baby boy! We are still trying to figure out a new name for him. Hubby doesn't want to call him Hoss. I may give Kohl and Molly a go at picking one.

I'm still strolling the yard camera in hand, looking at Sunsets and clouds! Today's Sunset!

Since I'll be gone till Monday, Hubby's going fishing on the coast tomorrow with his BIL ! He's ready to role out at daylight!

I got the last of the Tomatoes put up today. I was going to put them in the freezer but decided to do jars. I got 1 qt of juice, 3 qts. of tomatoes and made 2 qts of Spaghetti Sauce with fresh herbs from my herb garden. I put Sweet Basil, Oregano,Thyme and Rosemary in it. This is the first time I've done Spaghetti Sauce so we'll see how it turns out.

The peppers however don't want to quit, so I will continue to deal with them till they give it up!

So I 'll be on the road again tomorrow listening to an audio book going to get my babies !!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!!!!!

Have a safe trip--that's a long drive. I loved Linnets and Valerians--the owl that hawked up pellets!

Carol, have a wonderful time! I know what you mean about reading to children. It's like discovering all of these books again ...or for the first time as the case may be.

I enjoyed reading to my children...so much so because we were in another country with a different language. I was able to bring the feeling of my culture (and love of it) through reading those books to my kids.

I hope the spaghetti sauce turns out great. I think it will be a hit! Be safe! <3

How very lucky you are to have a houseful of joyous babies, both two-legged and four-legged, at the same time!

I don't envy the 300 mi drive, as I have made several 240mi round trips 3 weeks straight.

How wonderful you have books to read to them. The special time my Mother took daily to read to us shaped my life. It is cited today as a great deficiency in parenting--not the act of reading so much as the bonds formed between the reader and the recipient.

Parents today have pressing obligations; it is hard to be everything at one time.

Kudos to you!

Cute pictures!

Yes, I'm making the 10 1/2 hour drive from Charlotte to Memphis soon, myself to research my next book. Sounds like we'll just miss each other...

Sweet, sweet puppies - have a great week with your grandkids. I still miss my grandmothers - both of them were amazing women.

I love that the puppy's named Hoss. He just looks like a Hoss! And grandkids are the best. We just moved close to my little grandson Ben and he's obsessed with my husband, he's constantly asking, "Where's Papa?" And he loves for me to read him bedtime stories. Nothing compares to spending time with our grandchildren. Have a good drive with your book on tape. I know you'll have a good time with the grands.

Hi Carol. you visited my blog and kindly took the time to comment.I hope you enjoy quality time with your grandchildren, most of mine live around me so I see them regulary. The dogs are so funny they are like little furry cushions! I envy your harvest of peppers and tomatoes, we have had a washout of a summer...again!
I read some of the book reviews,I am a Gone with the Wind fan also and have read it a number of times over the years. I find I have different feelings about the book when I read it at different stages of my life. I first read it when I was 15 and loved the romance of the Civil War.
best wishes

have a good time next week with the grandkids. I think your puppies are so cute. I made spaghetti sauce last year with my tomatoes, it was very good. I'm still waiting for my tomatoes to get ripe!

By the time that you read this you will have already embarked upon your trip. I hope that it was a wonderful, exciting visit with the grandkids and that you found some rich, quality time with them. Reading to children is one of my favorite pastimes...A friend of mine and I search for quality books at sales, garage sales, library sales and even Goodwill for nicely illustrated books for children. We keep them in a large wicker basket and then the children come and "check out" a book, take it home and then return for others...it has been fun..
Your blog is always so colorful and informative and each visit is an adventure...
