This picture is from the Mt. Olive Wildcats. He had played football from a small child and had played the QB position until 9th grade when he did as he Dad told him to do, and "followed his heart" which was , switching to the Wide Receiver position.
As an Oak Grove Warrior, he is 6'1 190 pounds, bench presses 280 and 450 squat. He caught 58 passes for 962 yards during his Jr. season. As of his Jr year,he is being recruited by Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tulsa , USM ( University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg) and West Virginia. He says he is leaning toward USM and WV. I hope he will choose to play at USM so that I can follow his college career in person the way I followed his fathers pro career.
I have also read reports that Brett Favre attended Oak Grove. No, he did not! His children did and do attend there and he does work out with the High School football team. Steve Sr. has also worked out with the team and was a constant Friday night sight on the sidelines at Juniors games last year.
That will be a wonderful sight lost this coming year for all involved and especially Junior!!
UPDATE...............FEBRUARY 4, 2010
Steve Jr. signed to play for The University of Southern Mississippi !!!! WAH HOO !!!!!

Terrible loss of a star football player.
He looks so much like his dad, and it appears he has the same talent in football.
I watched the Nashville special last night on Steve's career, what a waste of a young man ;(
Thanks for sharing your post, I wasn't aware Steve had a grown son.
Thanks Carol for telling us about this young man. I hope he does well--just like his father did.
Wonder why he was raised by his grandmother???? I do feel sorry for Big Steve's wife and other kids. Can't believe that he was 'dating' a 20 yr. old....
Hugs,
Betsy
Lets HOPE he goes to USM!! We need him there!!! Thats my Alma Mater...GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!! My hubby played there as well.
Wow - all those recruiters. That's a lot of pressure for such a young man, one without a father to guide him. Prayers for him and his family.
Another sad tale of a superstar(read MJ) with another life, seemingly hidden from view... he and MJ won't be the last to suffer a grand fall. Very sad for his childreen, indeed. Hang on to those wonderful memories of 'Air'. Thanks for the info on Jr. I'm an avid NCAA football fan up North here. Go Pats!
The stories that are being revealed are pretty tragic. I feel for the family - the wife and kids.

What a terrible loss; my condolences to the families.
Tragic story. I hope this young man will be able to hold it together as he finishes his senior year. Much weight on his shoulders.
I was wondering the same thing as Betsy.
You can really see his Dad in his eyes. This has to be a hard tome for him as with all his family.
