Friday Fright............

I'm not one who is usually frightened by bad weather but Friday afternoon I have to admit my adrenaline was rising when a strong storm moved through here. The sun was out then the sky began to grow dark...........




Then wind started picking up........

The clouds became low and dark...........

It looked like they were touching the Pine tops across the pasture. The wind got up to 60 miles an hour and we had a downpour. The rain blew hard and it was lightening like crazy! I mean for a little while it was like a hurricane around here and I got real uneasy..........

Afterwards we had a real pretty rainbow over the pond.......WHEW !!

I watched three Hummers at the feeder yesterday but could only capture two. I dread their leaving, they really are fun to watch!

Hubby has a new shadow as he sprays for Ants. We have had a huge problem with Ants this year..........

Roxie loves flipping around with him and makes every step he does. She does NOT like the cattle at this point however! She was barking like crazy at them! HA! Cattle Dog ? Not yet!

We are a football loving family......."the girl" Melanie and her son Kohl age 10...........

He plays for the Packers.............. :)

And in a game against the Vikings last week, the Packers WON!!

My grandson Hunter, age 9, plays for the Burns Cowboys in Burns, Tennessee. He's the QB !

His sister Taylor, age 11, is a cheerleader for the team! These two also play baseball and both went to the Tennessee State Playoffs. Taylor's team won State and Hunter's team came in second! My son Marty coaches both of their baseball teams. I wish I could watch all three play but they are all in Tennessee so I just have to hear about it! We did however watch a great high school game Friday night between the Oak Grove Warriors and the Meridian Wildcats. Oak Grove won. Oak Grove is the team that Steve McNair JR. plays on and he is awesome! He is the spitting image of his late Dad. He played Wide Receiver, Full Back and Safety in this game! Also on the team is Dillon Fedora, son of USM Coach Larry Fedora, who came to USM last year from OU in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was my son Todd's next door neighbor in Stillwater.

" Dog Poor "

On Blue Monday I decided I would do a couple of errands. Go to the bank and drop off some sheets I'd collected for our local Animal Shelter. If you have sheets, pillow cases, blankets or bed spreads you don't use, please take them to your shelter as winter is approaching and the animals need them! I even pick them up at yard sales cheap for this purpose. Anyhoo, I should have had Hubby drop them off as I always have to cruise the doggies and play with a few! YES, I DID!
I adopted Roxie, a 2 month old Border Collie while there! We have been wanting to get a Border Collie to train for cattle work and I'm thrilled that I found one at the shelter! She was spayed yesterday and I will pick her up today! Isn't she a sweetie! 5 dogs now! We are Dog Poor I tell you!!



Update : OOPS ! WRONG DOG!
I went to the shelter to pick up Roxie only to discover they had spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped the wrong dog! Roxie is NOW on her way to the Spay Clinic! Hey, when you deal with 10 thousand animals a year, things like this happen, they said!







She should look just like this dog when she's full grown!





On to my other children.......TC wants to be left alone as he rests on the porch nap bed!

But the pups and Jake wanted to rest up there too! Patch see's himself in the window and is barking at that booger!

Duke-a-bear says I just want to nap..........

This is a White Canna I got on EBAY a few weeks ago. When it came it was two little leaves in a 3 inch pot. I transplanted it to this pot. I took this picture on Sunday when I saw it was about to bloom!

Yesterday it was in full bloom and just gorgeous! This is the first White Canna I've ever seen!

We had really pretty skies late yesterday! This is the East over the pond.........

This is the setting Sun in the West..............

We took a steer to the processor three weeks ago. Yesterday Hubby picked up our meat.

I love raising our own grass fed beef with no hormones or antibiotics. It taste totally different from store bought! It's lean and tender! Hubby fires up the grill so we can see how it tastes!

We had wonderful T-Bone for dinner!

Thank you all so much for the comments and e-mails on the Brett Favre post! I had no idea how many of you love NFL and support a team! I got e-mails from people I had no idea were reading this blog! Many were surprised that this is Brett's home! Brett was my neighbor for 5 years before I moved to this farm. He really is just a good ole boy. I do love watching him but my team is the Titans who sadly are 0-4 at this point! We also follow the Saints who like the Vikings, are 4-0. We love NFL and follow several different players on several teams.

" Good Morning America "

If you watched " Good Morning America " yesterday, you may have seen this couple! This is my son Todd and his wife Lori who were guests of their friends Chris Cumo and Sam Champion for yesterday's show.

The four of them toured Times Square on Wednesday night................Don't you think they should have taken me along? :(

" ONE A DAY "

I know you all are sick of hearing about my Chickens! So I'm just gonna tell you Miss Trixie GoLay is laying ONE A DAY somewhere between 10 and 11 a.m. I'm saving them up till I get a dozen, then will start eating them!



I'm pulling the pepper plants up, one every other day, to give to the Chickens. This is what I got off the last 2 Anaheim's. I hate to throw anything away and the chickens won't eat the peppers but they strip the plant clean of leaves.........so more pepper sauce!

These are the bounty from the Book Mobile( post lady) this week! I think this Secrets of The Gnomes is fantastic! The 2 in the middle are from a New Orleans writer I just discovered , Patty Friedmann. Secondhand Smoke was one of the 30 Underrated Southern Books listed by the Oxford American Magazine's new issue. I also ordered 2 more by her, Eleanor Rushing and the one you see here A Little Bit Ruined which is the sequel to it. I also got the Pulitzer Prize winner A Confederacy of Dunces, The Robert E. Lee Family Cooking and Housekeeping Book and the only Helen Hoover I didn't have, The Long Shadowed Forest . I'm getting prepped for Winter when I hope to have more reading time! :)

We had some interesting clouds yesterday.............

There really is something magical about clouds...........

We watched 2 helicopters fly over and even though it looked like they would disappear into the clouds because the clouds looked so low, they never got close!

I sat out in the yard with the dogs and just stared at them............

This was our Sunrise over the pond this morning.........

A beautiful start to the day! We are expecting a rainy weekend..........

Which means no yard work, so I hope to visit with all of you and see what's happening in your world!!

" I Can See Clearly Now "

I had a vision in my head of a tropical feeling courtyard area out back. Today the vision came to life in part as my wonderful husband began the work of turning my vision into a dream come true!



Yesterday we had a sweet smelling rain shower and a rainbow.............

I love rainbows.....

And then some gorgeous clouds for me to gaze at...

I just can't get enough of gazing....

And then the moon appeared...........

Growing larger....

I don't know if it was official but it was full...........

And later after dark, it was awesome!

This is a shot of the Mystery Plant. I think it is gorgeous but has stopped blooming at the moment.

I dealt with a little Okra today...........

I got a gallon bag of sliced and a few small whole pods for the freezer....

They got new digs today! They like it better than the box as they can see what's going on!

These are some sweet babies!! They also got food for the first time today!

Outside play time is sooooo much fun!!

The Courtyard will also serve as a play yard for all the Peek gang!
