" Finally "

The Butterflies have finally decided our flowers are attractive enough to visit! I've been wondering why we have no butterflies? Saturday I started seeing some. This was the first to start hanging around....

Then this one showed up and yesterday the yard was full but my camera batteries had to be charged so I didn't get pictures.....

Our pepper plants refuse to quit! These along with a crisper full of Red and Green Bell
will have to be dealt with today....

I plan on turning them into Pepper Relish..........

We had a unhappy visitor to the live trap Saturday night!

Hubby guessed he weighs about 10 pounds! He was a big boy!

He now resides on the other side of the river so maybe he won't get caught sneaking around here again! HA! The "girls" and their man seem content! Believe it or not, I WOKE THE CHICKENS UP yesterday! They were still on the roost when I went to feed ! HA!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GREAT COMMENTS !!!

Talk about 'getting up with the chickens'..... GEE--you got up BEFORE the chickens!!! That must have been pretty darn early. Guess the chicks like their new home!!!!! Did the rooster crow--and wake you up????? ha

Good capture.. That is one big coon!!!! Glad he is FAR away from you now..

Glad you have some butterflies now --and glad you still have some veggies coming in.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Your garden is amazing! It just keeps producing. The peppers are gorgeous.

By the way, I've nominated you for a little award over at my blog :)

Lovely garden, and you have butterflies! How lucky you are; we have only got wasps! The raccoon is great!

Jen.. it is amazing! I can't believe that pepper! Thanks for the AWARD!

What amazing and colorful pictures!

Mr Raccoon will rue the day he had a change of address for trying to rob the hen house.

Peppers must be next to squash for massive proliferation.

You will be busy.

Poor little bandit! I'm glad he was relocated. We have had to do a bit of that ourselves in the past. With possums and snakes as well!

I'm so envious of your garden--even as I recall the long hot hours of weeding, canning, pickling--worth the labor!

Hey Wil...Thanks! The Coon was something! I think they are so cute! :( Hated to haul him away!
I told Hubby NO more death! Relocate!

Carol Murdock said...

Medora...thanks! Love my camera!

Nitwit...true be known he is happy to be alive!

Pamela...relocate is the only way! I love the little bandits!

MM... I wish you had it at this point! Hubby said he'd pull them up and feed them to the cows but I can't stand to waste good food I know will be a joy come winter!

Nasty looking critter. Eewwe. The butterflies are loving your lantana. Is your garden ever going to give it up. You are lucky to still have some veggies producing.

Well, we haven't seen butterflies in a "coon's" age. Haha!

. . . And, getting up before the chickens is a little early. . . no wait, it's a lot early! Yikes!

Aw, gee, Carol, you got up before the chickens? Haha. Actually, I rise at 4 AM most mornings, at 5 if I'm a bit lazy. I'm an early to bed, early to rise kind of gal. I like to get done with things early, so I can head out for some fun by 10 or 11 AM.

Love the flowers and peppers and butterflies. I still have lots of tomatoes, and will have them until first frost. Don't like peppers, so I didn't plant any. But that pepper relish is yummy looking.

I love your enthusiasm, Carol. Have a great evening.

Huggies,

Renie xoxo

oooh he's a fine looking racoon, just not near your chickens and rooster eh !
They are cheeky little devils, and can carry rabies without showing signs, that's why you are not suppose to have them as pets.
Your garden just keeps on producing, you must take really good care of it, in these Southern summer months, it's easy for them to just dry up, overnight.
Good deal on the sewing machine...now get to work making something ;)

I love it--you woke up the chickens! And that racoon is a pill, I know, but he's a cute one! Hope he does well on, the other side of the river.

That butterfly picture is just fantastic!

Poor unhappy visitor. I once hit a coon with a basketball in the middle of the night. We had one foraging around in our garbage, the kids were sleeping and I was up reading. I didn't want to wake up the family by shooing the coon away with a yell, so I grabbed the basketball out of the closet, creeked open the screen door and took aim at our garbage cans lined up along side of the house. Whamo - the poor fellow didn't know what hit him, it took him a few seconds before he collected his thoughts and lit out of there!

I missed the blue butterflies that always come to the bottom of our driveway - bunches of them - and flutter around....maybe they came while I was in Vegas.....dang.

I love the photos of your produce - beautiful!

And we have a big fat arse coon too and some babies - climb the tree to get to the squirrel feeder

Hi Carol ~ The butterfly pics are beautiful!
Last year I had gorgeous peppers , this year has been a bad one , the deer ate the first blooms and most of the leaves , then we had a very dry June , it was rainy and cool in July , so they're trying to make a comeback. I saw several on the vines this morning , so maybe I'll get a few peppers this season. My Mom has been blessed with peppers this year , she has been keeping me supplied for my salsa making.
Enjoyed seeing the pics of the chickens , glad you caught Mr. Raccoon. Wish they made a deer trap (LOL).

Wow!!..he was big and heavy
Your produce is lovely. I am glad you are doing so well.
I am going to gather as much as I can this week before the last day I am there. The garden didn't do as well as I would have liked. It really needed a good over-haul of dirt. The weather was cool so everything is a bit behind.Glad to see your chickens are happy. I always wanted chickens but never have the space.

That's a LOT of chopping ahead! You're going to need a larger cabinet to hold your bounty. Wasn't it already full in the last picture you showed us?

Your energy is amazing. The chickens better set their alarm clock.

Love your coon relocation project. Kind of neat to see them up close but behind bars.
I did the same with mine and word must have spread for the last one, was the "last one" for over a year.
Does your rooster all ready know how to crow? Their learning process is truly funny to hear.

Hi Carol

This was a very good pepper year. When I have extra peppers I cut them in slices, parboil them for a minute, drain them well and freeze them. Then they are great to use in stir fries, garnishes, etc.

That racoon looks so guilty! lol I'm sure he enjoyed a few vegetables form your garden before entering the trap.

Glad the butterflies are visiting you!

Beautiful pictures, Biscuit. I want to tell you and others about "Blind Pig and the Acorn." It's an Appalachian heritage blog by a gal named Tipper whose family goes way, way back in the mountains of NC. Take a look: http://www.blindpigandtheacorn.com/blind_pig_the_acorn/

Gorgeous butterflies especially the first....how dare that pesky Raccoon think he could sneak in and plunder lol.

You certainly won't be short of peppers for a while :)

You woke the chickens up - now that's impressive!

I love the butterflies - so beautiful.

I think that the racoon is cute, too. And those peppers are gorgeous! I could just eat them raw, with maybe a good ranch dip. Pepper relish sounds so good!

I love butterflies! We have a bunch of butterfly bushes and they are constantly being visited by the butterflies. I can't blame them, they smell so good.
