" It's The Sixth of August "

It's my wonderful Soul-Mate and husband Eric's birthday! Happy Birthday Honey!! Some of you know the story behind mine and Eric's relationship, others don't. A short version is:
We were next door neighbors when I was too young to think about love and he was going to Vietnam. However is was love that existed between us.He went to war, I married my children's father and went to war myself, another version however. Eric and I never saw each other or spoke again for 36 years. I had been single for 14 years, had not dated for 5 years and swore off dating and marriage for life when I moved back to Mississippi after living 30 years in the Nashville area of Tennessee. His wife of 34 years had passed away from Cancer and he showed up at my door one day and 36 years proved no match for those young love feelings. We dated for 4 years and then married ! I moved to Swiftwater Farm and began living the good life!

He knows how to relax.....

He's the hardest working retired man I know of and will work till he drops to full fill my dreams!

He'll traipse off to where ever to attend a book signing with me!

He's a great fisherman....some he finds, remember the Bass who swallowed the Bream?

And some he catches!! 17 pound Catfish from our pond!

He's a wonderful step-dad to my children! He and my son Marty at son Todd's in Oklahoma..

He never had a daughter, " the girl " has him wrapped around her little finger!

He's best buds with my 81 year old Dad and carts him 90 miles to his VA appointments!

The BEST Paw Paw in the world!

They love him...........He taught grandson Kohl to shoot a 22 rifle last week. He is now Kohl's all time hero!

Molly showing out for Paw Paw!

He'll fly over New Orleans with you in a little bitty plane!

He loves the Smokies just as much as me....

He'll dress up and go to family functions!

And he married me in the Smokies!! My dream wedding! Happy Birthday sweetheart, thank you for loving me!!

As he says; " grass don't grow under our feet, we keep it cut" !!
The Courtyard fence is finished except for one gate!

Can you see the tropical plants growing down the left side? 10 foot Cannas, Banana Trees and Elephant ears? Running Roses on the right next to the pond? Hardy Hibiscus in different colors growing 8 foot high across the back? I might even throw a Palm in that left corner!

This side gate is the only construction left to do....

This is where running roses will be. Don't want to block view of the pond!

A closer view....

The Peek Gang are loving their new outside digs!

Especially the " fat boys"..............

Ahwwwww all that romping makes Patch a tired little boy!

Jake still stays his distance, he can't stand it when the boys chase him! HA!

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!

I read that with fascination--what a great love story. I'm envious that you can get so many photos up in one post---I'm not clever enough to do that!

Oh, what a sweet story - I have sworn off love/marriage, but I don't have anyone like that to come and find me and catch up on lost time. Most guys I have dated ran screaming when I was finished with them. You are a much nicer person than I am though, ha ha ha!

Great pics, as always.

What a lovely romantic story - he's a keeper - all that compatibility stuff is wonderful but in my mind there's nothin' better than a "handy" man. Your dreams are looking amazing. Love to the Peeks from me and Miss D.

Happy Birthday Eric!

Love those pictures of your happy life and seeing what you're up to, Biscuit. Eric shares the same birthday with Trixie (not Sherry Austin, the gal who helps her out), though she was born a far sight earlier.

Love your story. You certainly brought lots of energy with you to the farm. . . yowsah! Had to stop and have a Diet Coke just READING all that planting you're going to be doing.

What in the WORLD are you doing posting a blog like that so early in the morning? Don't you sleep??? WHEW!

Yours is a beautiful love story. You should write your memoirs. I'm sure it would be a wonderful read.

Lovely post and tribute to your husband.

Interestingly,my husband's is Aug.7.

We have decided to go to a resort for a week to celebrate both our birthdays (they are two months apart).

Seems a great idea. I have a post scheduled for the day we leave Aug.13

Enjoy the rest of the day!!

My son just looked at the pics of the fish he caught and wants to know when he can bring a pole and catch the whale that swallowed Jonah! LOL

Your yard is a haven of rest!

"Happy Birthday, Sweet Eric!"

Oh, Carol...I'm so happy for you that you have found a treasure for a husband, just as I have. Your love story reminds me so much of mine--I think you may have mentioned that to me once, if I'm not mistaken.

But just in case you haven't read about how Dion and I were brought together, then you can read the condensed version here.

Thank you so much for sharing your story again for those of us that missed it the first time around. It brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but it's always for our good because He loves us dearly. Weren't our husbands worth every minute of the wait? I say: "yes, a thousand times, yes!"

God bless both you and Eric, Carol.

In His Love,
~Cynde

Happy Birthday to Eric ! Enjoyed reading about how you met , I believe in soulmates. I married my husband when I was very young , we grew up together in marriage , but we're definitely soulmates. We'll be married 31 years on the 13th of this month.
The puppies are so precious , bet they are enjoying their new found freedom.
