After our morning at the yard sales and flea market, we were cold and hungry. So we headed over to Breaux Bridge to look around for a place to relax and get some good Cajun Food..........
In the far left middle of this picture you will see a sign saying Janell's. We stopped in this beautiful shop to look around and found that the owner is from Magnolia, Mississippi which is not far from us. She was really sweet and we enjoyed talking with her. When we asked her if she could recommend a good place to eat, she said ; next door at Cafe Des Amis, which you see here.
We could hear the Cajun Music coming from here..........
When we opened the door, the placed was full of people dancing and having a good time! :)

Now I might enjoy this if I was looking for a good cup of coffee and a short sit down to observe the culture. I was looking for a relaxing meal however. NOPE, not here! (This picture came from the web)
We had seen a sign earlier for Mulate's. We LOVE Mulate's in New Orleans, so we went in search of it!
Turns out this is the original Mulate's and New Orleans was the second one.
They also have live music at night.........
The lunch crowd was gone so we had it pretty much to ourselves which suited us fine......
I loved the atmosphere and such pretty things hanging all around.........
A former LSU player's helmet graces the wall..............
I bet this place jumps when it's full...........They have a huge sign as you enter showing all the celebrities that have eaten here.
I had a bowl of delicious Seafood Gumbo with hot French Bread..........
Hubby got a Seafood Platter food with Stuffed Crab, Frog Leg, Fried Shrimp and Oysters and Catfish and a Shrimp and Crab Stuffed Bell Pepper...........
After stuffing ourselves with this wonderful food, we headed home. I was dreading that drive! HA! Here we are crossing the Atchafalaya Basin.......... This bridge runs 18.2 miles through the largest natural wildlife swamp in the USA.
Atchafalaya Basin encompasses 595,000 acres and is home to over 200 species of birds!

Oh,,that seafood platter is making my mouth water. You sound like me about finding a nice quiet place to lunch!! We usually go after lunch crowd is gone. I also am not one to like the big city hustle and bustle of traffic. We did not have a hard time coming into the city, but coming home during Monday morning rush hour traffic, I was a nervous wreck.
Love your yard sale finds. I am envyous of the dollar box of jars!!
I never have enough of them anymore.

This post brought back so many great memories of that area--the great food, the dancing, just a life of its own there.... Glad you got to eat at Mulates. We always thought it was better than the one in Nawlins.

Right now, I would give anything for a few dozen big raw Gulf oysters, three pounds of boiled crawfish and a couple of soft shell crab. That food had my mouth watering.
I talked to my classmate and dear friend in New Orleans yesterday and figure it is about time for a visit!!!
It was great seeing all those photos I remember from my youth when I would go home weekends with all my Charity classmates - my home in Georgia was too far away for short visits. Lucky me!!!
What hit me are those trees poking up and out of the water. So strange looking. That platter of food your hubby got would be exactly what mine would order!
That bridge over the swamp would be a place I'd like to drive over! And the seafood platter sure sounded good. Except for the frog legs. Yuck.
I'm glad you had such a great time. Bet the fur family was happy to see you guys get home.
