" Under Construction Again "

This morning we had 39 degrees and fog on the pond! Yesterday we awoke to 33 and Sunday 35! However, we are supposed to start a warm up today with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s by the end of the week.................. :)

If you remember, this was Hubby's Cow Trailer/Port ! It is now in the barn because I hiked the port for a greenhouse !!

Hubby finished the greenhouse on Thursday! YEAH !

I started carting the plants in on Saturday after we returned from Louisiana....

It's now filling up..........

All of these plants have to be cut back so even though we're in for a warm up, I'm going to get started on that..........

I'll keep the window and door open for fresh air.....

Having finished the greenhouse project....we are under construction again!
See this weird indention with the under sized, portable non working Fireplace? This has been a thorn in my side from day one of moving here!

I have always envisioned a built in Entertainment Center here!

A place to get the 52 inch Samsung out of the corner!

Here you see the recliner love seat to the right..........( I don't know what happened with this picture) :(

This is the matching recliner sofa on the back wall. The Fireplace will be moved to this wall and chairs will go to each side of it...........

Construction starts with removing the floor rug, mirror and pictures.........

Then the Fireplace...........chair rail and baseboards.........

It's all framed up.............

We are working from this picture. The only difference will be that we won't have the divided shelves on the top. We will have 2 shelves that go all the way across and it will be trimmed out different............This will allow me to place the sofa where the love seat is now, the love seat where the TV is, the rug in between with a coffee table so I can display my coffee table books! YEAH!
I'll even have a place to put a Christmas Tree now!! :)

On Sunday we picked our first "mess " of Turnip Greens from the patch and they were so good!
Have A Great Week Everyone!!!

What a great idea for the wall indentation (LOL!)! Can't wait to see it finished.

I'm green over your greenhouse!

I have always wanted a place to store all my potted plants for the winter. I regrettably brought them in because of the threat of a frost. I will probably have to drag them back out one more time before we really get that first hard freeze. It is a job.
Also, I love your idea for the entertainment center! My living room has issues. I wish I could hire an interior decorator.........but that is not a reasonable and responsible way to spend money here.

Oh to have a handy man....if our stuff can't be fixed w/ duct tape or baling wire....it isn't going to get done. I love the entertainment center!!! I have a brown thumb....so I would want a chicken house made out of it...one that I can STAND IN and not have to walk through the pen w/ a humped over back...lol.

That entertainment center area will be so neat, Carol. I love your idea. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Love your greenhouse. We have to use our garage (which has two windows) during the winter for our plants which are in pots...

Do you have cornbread with your turnip greens???? Yum!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Living in San Francisco for over 30 years has not eliminated my GA roots. I so love turnip greens...or mixed greens - turnips, collards and mustard! I may just havet to go in search of some today!

Your entertainment center sounds perfect...nice that you have your own furniture engineer on the premises to fulfill your dreams...greenhouse,entertainment center...the world is your oyster...ummm, oysters sound good, too...but, out here, we don't get those yummy Gulf ones.

So, now that everyone/everything comes indoor you start to tear down stuff. You husband must be a saint.

You are always up to so much! I am out working in the garden, and it's breaking my heart to be pulling up all my annuals, even though they still look pretty good. I just have to do it when I have the time. :-( I want a greenhouse so badly!

The entertainment idea is fabulous!

What joy the greenhouse will bring you this winter. I have always had a dream of one to help quench my OCFD(obsessive compulsive flower disorder).

Your entertainment center will be great. Was the indention a closet at some point?

Have a super day and enjoy the sunshine.....I'm gonna!!!

What a great remodeling project. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Love your greenhouse!

You guys don't let any grass grow under your feet! I think putting the TV in there is a fabulous idea. It's going to look great.
Those big TV's (I don't have one......yet.....) just are so difficult to decorate around unless you incorporate them into something...just like you are doing.
Can't wait to see it finished, which knowing you, will be about 7 am tomorrow morning!

The plans look great! And I am so jealous of your greenhouse.

We used to live in eastern NC where they call it turnip salad (sallet). My favorite greens.

You will love that new construction.

Carol,
What a great idea for an entertainment center. What a wonderful place to store your plants in the greenhouse during winter. I can hardly wait to see the wall indentation finished. I sure wish I had such a wonderful handy man.

I love visiting the farm, and seeing what you busy beavers are up to.

that's a neat idea for a greenhouse. You'd think you were too far south to get so cold so early in the season. Your entertainment center looks good, too. Good Job on both!

You keep hubby busy ...lol
Will you have to use any kind of heat in your greenhouse ? I think he did a fine job, on both the greenhouse and the entertainment center, can't wait to see it finished.
Turnip greens, I could eat them 'till them ran out of my ears ;)

That looks like an excellent spot for the Big screen. I am looking for an different entertainment center myself. I have found one but am still thinking it over. WE finally agreeed on a sofa but will take a couple of weeks to deliver. You have so much energy, wish I had more.I just love what your doing. It must be nice to have a green house. Your plants are now safe for the winter.

Envious of your green house.Sure beats finding room in the house for the perishables. Any plans for winter veggies?
What a great idea for the entertainment center. You have a really handy guy sharing your roof.

Well, I'd sure love to have some of those turnip greens! Good thing you're doin' with your room, baby. I sure do appreciate the accolade. Me and that gal who helps me out thank you kindly for it.

HUGE difference! Very, very clever...looks like the perfect solution!

Is there no project the man won't tackle?!!!

The built in entertainment center will make you feel like you're in a whole new room! It's a great idea.

You will certainly get a lot use from your greenhouse.

I was catching up on your blog and enjoyed your trip through Cajunland! One thing I don't miss is the bumper to bumper traffic in the middle of the day.

That wall recess was waiting for better use!
Can't wait to see the finished project!

Would you believe that I never realized that the kind of greens you have in your bowl there was young turnip greens?

Any okra leftovers?

I have seen some at the market the other week, but they looked a bit brown and not so fresh. I confess that I never cooked them myself, only ate them with gusto at other people's tables. Would you share your recipe, please?

Carol, your entertainment indent looks so much better than the fire place. Pass on the compliment to your hubby!
Love your greenhouse too!

You and the hubby never rest but you're lucky to have a greenhouse. Let us know how it goes.

70 deg sounds divine. Enjoy!
