" Dog Poor "

On Blue Monday I decided I would do a couple of errands. Go to the bank and drop off some sheets I'd collected for our local Animal Shelter. If you have sheets, pillow cases, blankets or bed spreads you don't use, please take them to your shelter as winter is approaching and the animals need them! I even pick them up at yard sales cheap for this purpose. Anyhoo, I should have had Hubby drop them off as I always have to cruise the doggies and play with a few! YES, I DID!
I adopted Roxie, a 2 month old Border Collie while there! We have been wanting to get a Border Collie to train for cattle work and I'm thrilled that I found one at the shelter! She was spayed yesterday and I will pick her up today! Isn't she a sweetie! 5 dogs now! We are Dog Poor I tell you!!

Update : OOPS ! WRONG DOG!
I went to the shelter to pick up Roxie only to discover they had spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped the wrong dog! Roxie is NOW on her way to the Spay Clinic! Hey, when you deal with 10 thousand animals a year, things like this happen, they said!

She should look just like this dog when she's full grown!

On to my other children.......TC wants to be left alone as he rests on the porch nap bed!

But the pups and Jake wanted to rest up there too! Patch see's himself in the window and is barking at that booger!

Duke-a-bear says I just want to nap..........

Patch is still wondering about the booger!

Duke yawns and Patch checks to see if the booger is still in that window!

Jake and Patch just being.............

This is a White Canna I got on EBAY a few weeks ago. When it came it was two little leaves in a 3 inch pot. I transplanted it to this pot. I took this picture on Sunday when I saw it was about to bloom!

Yesterday it was in full bloom and just gorgeous! This is the first White Canna I've ever seen!

We had really pretty skies late yesterday! This is the East over the pond.........

This is the setting Sun in the West..............

We took a steer to the processor three weeks ago. Yesterday Hubby picked up our meat.
I love raising our own grass fed beef with no hormones or antibiotics. It taste totally different from store bought! It's lean and tender! Hubby fires up the grill so we can see how it tastes!

We had wonderful T-Bone for dinner!

Thank you all so much for the comments and e-mails on the Brett Favre post! I had no idea how many of you love NFL and support a team! I got e-mails from people I had no idea were reading this blog! Many were surprised that this is Brett's home! Brett was my neighbor for 5 years before I moved to this farm. He really is just a good ole boy. I do love watching him but my team is the Titans who sadly are 0-4 at this point! We also follow the Saints who like the Vikings, are 4-0. We love NFL and follow several different players on several teams.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK! I'LL BE POSTING ON ROXIE TOMORROW !! :)

Oh! I've been waiting for photos of the new arrival--How cute he is and will grow up to be!!!

I am a dyed in the wool dog lover.

Yes a lot of us women in addition to men, are NFL lovers. If there is any kind of football on TV, even collegiate, I'm torn between it and Animal Planet! <:~)>

Hi Carol, Congrats on gettin Roxie. Pretty soon, you'll have to get a "zoo license"... ha ha... But Roxie is a cutie..

I laughed at Patch seeing his reflection and thinking there was another dog there. How CUTE!!!!

Your Canna is gorgeous. Recently, when we were in Hendersonville, I saw a yard with a huge round flowerbed full of red Cannas...Gorgeous!

You and I are on the same page with our favorite teams. I also love the Saints -and my youngest son still considers them his favorite team. He's thrilled at the way they are playing this year.

YUM---bet those steaks were GOOD. Made my mouth water!!! ha

Hugs,
Betsy

I used to call it dog poor but I prefer to think of it as "dog rich."
Roxie has a beautiful face and she is one lucky pup. Bless you.
Thanks so much for the reminder about comfort needs of local shelters as winter approaches. There is always a need.
Always adore your Peke pics.

We have two Border collies -- they are so smart and so focused -- good thing you'll have a job for her to do.

Gorgeous skies over the pond!

One cannot get too much unconditional love. Roxie is a doll.
May I say WoW on the Canna, I've never seen a white one and I thought I'd seen it all. I always enjoy your pics.

Have a great day and thanks for sharing.

I love the nap bed on the porch! What a lovely idea. And the quilt is so pretty.
I love Border Collies and always wanted to have one, but have not as yet. We are dog poor too! By the time they get shots, worm stuff, flea stuff, not to mention the dog food and "fixing" them, Oh my, it adds up! But they are worth it, aren't they?
I, too, have never seen a white Canna. So pretty.

I really enjoy your blog.

Oh what a cutie you got yourself! I keep waiting for the kids to grow a little more so I could get them each a puppy. Alas, we are really dog poor!

Oh man, that little puppy is a doll. I currently have four dogs, (too many), as I've been roped into caring for my two daughters dogs added to my two. I don't know how you do it! :-)

How lovely to have your own natural beef to eat. I worry about what we are ingesting, the hormones etc...

I am so happy that I can prounce FAVRE now.

That steak made me hungry. I'm always hungry.

Adorable animal friends, great pics as always. Love the cat on the bed - mine go there right before my bedtime and won't move. "Cat displacement time," I always tell them in warning, but they wait until I pick them up and find another comfy spot to put them. So spoiled.

You have really been a busy lady. I found all you posted today very interesting and informative. I did not know they needed old bedding for the animals. Glad you dropped by my place.

Your pups are oh so cute! Fred used to bark at himself in the mirror when he was a baby. Sweet things!

Oh wow you have cute canines! I love border collies and in fact follow a couple of blogs where their dogs are the main attraction. They're fine critters. Great photos on you post, Thanks for your support on my POTW endeavor. :)

Roxie should be a nice addition to your family. I have always had multiple dogs, but at this time we only have a Boxer mix. He's an absolute joy and I would love a sibling for him, but .......

Well, Roxie is adorable. But she'll be a working dog, and that's what they love. I have 3 dogs and 5 cats, all are rescues.

We have a huge ranch around here, 5,000 acres of grass, and they raise and sell grass fed beef, and get like 14 bucks a pound for it! I'm sure it tastes much better, but I don't eat any beef. I know, I'm strange.

Love all the pictures! Will check back to see more or Roxie after you bring her home. Have a great evening.

Hugs.

What a cute Border Collie pup!I'm glad he'll be useful to you and in return have a good loving home.

I like football too, Carol. It's great that Brett is having a good season.

I hope your son and DIl had fun in NYC! How cool to be in the audience on GMA -- I watch a bit of that show almost every morning wehn I get home from my walk.

Yipee ~ that's a Lucky dog for sure and she's a cutie. My uncle had a border collie named Rock when I was a young'in (LOL), he was a sweet natured dog.
You must have a very green thumb , can't believe that canna is blooming already. It's a beauty.

Five dogs! You are a brave woman. i envy the grass fed beef you raise. I try to buy it whenever I can. I always find the ground beef, but not the cuts. Need to expand my shopping circle.

Oh my, you do love your dogs. We've only had one since we've been married and she was a dachshund and lived to be 14 1/2. You'll never be lonely or bored with all of your animals.

A border collie is perfect. They are so intelligent and loving. And you have just the right place for one. Can't wait to see the photographs.

I missed this post so I was very confused by the next one about the mysterious Roxie. Congratulations!!!! I also loved seeing photos of all your furry crew.

The White Canna is absolutely gorgeous and those reblooming Irises rock!

The dogs are a joy to see around your house, wished I could introduce you to my Maxie (a long-haired black dachshund)!

I would love to have one of your T-Bone steaks right now - I buy only organic meat, but American steaks are still superior to the ones here.

Roxie is adorable, but is she a he or he a she?? Never mind she is spayed and consequently must be female.

Oh and I love the little dogs.
I have never seen a white canna either, but it's gorgeous!
