" ONE A DAY "

I know you all are sick of hearing about my Chickens! So I'm just gonna tell you Miss Trixie GoLay is laying ONE A DAY somewhere between 10 and 11 a.m. I'm saving them up till I get a dozen, then will start eating them!

I'm pulling the pepper plants up, one every other day, to give to the Chickens. This is what I got off the last 2 Anaheim's. I hate to throw anything away and the chickens won't eat the peppers but they strip the plant clean of leaves.........so more pepper sauce!

These are the bounty from the Book Mobile( post lady) this week! I think this Secrets of The Gnomes is fantastic! The 2 in the middle are from a New Orleans writer I just discovered , Patty Friedmann. Secondhand Smoke was one of the 30 Underrated Southern Books listed by the Oxford American Magazine's new issue. I also ordered 2 more by her, Eleanor Rushing and the one you see here A Little Bit Ruined which is the sequel to it. I also got the Pulitzer Prize winner A Confederacy of Dunces, The Robert E. Lee Family Cooking and Housekeeping Book and the only Helen Hoover I didn't have, The Long Shadowed Forest . I'm getting prepped for Winter when I hope to have more reading time! :)

We had some interesting clouds yesterday.............

There really is something magical about clouds...........

We watched 2 helicopters fly over and even though it looked like they would disappear into the clouds because the clouds looked so low, they never got close!

I sat out in the yard with the dogs and just stared at them............

This was our Sunrise over the pond this morning.........

A beautiful start to the day! We are expecting a rainy weekend..........

Which means no yard work, so I hope to visit with all of you and see what's happening in your world!!

"The Big Brown Truck" brought me more books yesterday and my TBR pile is growing in leaps and bounds, and now with the books you've mentioned my Amazon wish list is growing!

Beautiful cloud pictures, especially the morning sunrise.

You know what they say Carol...red skys in the morning..sailors take warning. :0)

I post a lot about are chickens as well. I love the lil' buggers! They are addictive. Right now we have 30 hens...but only about 10 of them are laying right now. We are consistantly getting 9 eggs a day. Probably around mid October..we will hit the mother load!

I am gonna have my Dad make me a sign to put at the end of the road. We have like 4 dozen sitting in the fridge right now...I gave a dozen to my Mom and Dad yesterday.

Wait til your other girls start laying! And the eggs are awesome. My oldest daughter gets SO excited when she finds a rather large one...they are double yolkers. It is like treasure to her.HAHA.

Loved the pics! Have a Blessed Day!

The last two pics look like the SUNSET from our place in the CO.mtns.
You have real discipline I would be eating those yummy cage free eggs as Henny dropped them. My sister used to have 3 hens, BukBuk, Bugurk & Chooky!I sure do love good eggs probably why I seldom eat them anymore!!

GO Miss Trixie!!! There's nothing like the taste of fresh eggs. Mmm.

I've got a loaf of sour cream rye in my bread maker and thought of you, Carol.

I love the sunrise photo. Sunrise is difficult to capture because it goes more quickly than sunsets.

I feel and omelet coming on!!!!

You live on fertile ground, don't you?

Love the pics as always. Hope you enjoy Confederacy as much as I did. :D

Updates on the chickens are highly appreciated by this reader. I added Eleanor Rushing's "A Little Bit Ruined" to my reading list, just because a book with an intriguing title like that deserves consideration. Enjoy your rainy weekend, we need some rain in these parts in the worse way and none in sight.

I'm tired just thinking of all the chores you have lined up for yourself. The reading, though, is relaxing.

Those clouds are gathering rain!

Never get sick of the hen tales. My girls lay early, around 7. I appreciate that.

I, for one, love your chicken stories. I would like to get a couple myself, but we have a pretty big fox population, so not sure if it would work out too well.

Just like the third commenter said, Red sky in morning, sailor take warning. The sky doesn't lie. Sit on the porch and enjoy your books.

Hi Carol, Your sky pictures and sunrise pictures are fabulous. We went to Hendersonville today to check on G's parents and had rain on the way home. BUT--none here... Overall, we've had a rainy/drizzly week.

Congrats on the eggs... That is SUPER.
Hugs,
Betsy

Been reading a Truman Capote biography lately. Quite an interesting life he lived. Got a few of his non-fiction works and plan to get into them shortly.

Love those sky pictures!

Hope you have a lot of egg eating friends for once those ladies get the hang of it, those containers fill fast. Just 3 little Araucanas (they lay small blue eggs) kept me hopping. Good luck and keep us posted.
Loved your sunrise.

Ooooooh, home made eggs! Those peppers sure look professional, too. How you find the time to read, blog AND to be such a domestic Goddess makes me feel sorely inadequate, so it does.. perhaps you can find a slot somewhere to come over to my corner of the world, so I might pick up a little advice on how to get as productive? (My plumbs rotted on the tree before I found them, last week. And it only bears fruit bi-annually - I could have wept.)
