" FRIDAY "

I spent most of Friday thinking about my beautiful Mother Mary, it was her birthday, she would have been 81 years old. She's been gone over 8 years and I miss her so much!My Dad who is 81 is still with us. :)

To those of you who inquired about Sadie's surgery, she did fine and boy was she glad to see me after spending 2 days away from home! I know she is thinking here, " I wasn't sure I would ever see this place again" !

On my way to pick up Sadie, I stopped at Fred's Dollar Store. They were having a Pet Products sale. I got Sadie and Jake a new bed and they love it!

I also got these steps so the Fat Boys can lay on the couch too instead of barking at their parents when they get up there! It was so much fun teaching them to climb the steps!

Awwwwwwwwww Mom, we want to go with you to feed the chickens!!

The Girls are doing great! I still can't tell the others apart , only Vicki and Willow who run the show! Even Oscar Wilde the Rooster follows Vicki's lead! HA!

Yes..........they are eating a pepper bush! I'm really tired of putting up pepper so I pulled up a bush and they cleaned up on it! That's Vicki against the fence with her Back turned! :)

At Fred's I also picked up this cute Glider. It was marked down from $75.00 to $ 50.00.
I got the chairs there last year after they had been marked down from $19.99 to $7.00.

I also picked up this metal Arbor for $29.00 marked down from $49.00! It has 2 little gates on it but I had Hubby leave them off. I will use them elsewhere. I'm not sure I like it here, but it will end up somewhere in the Courtyard!

This is my Red Mulberry Tree or should I say trees? I got 2 and braided them together so it will have a braided trunk. It has really grown from the tiny switch it was!

The Bottle Brush Tree just keeps getting more blooms...........

Last night for Supper we had Corned Beef Stuffed Peppers and Garlic Cheese Bread.....
It was delish!

And Strawberry Shortcake for desert..............

The Full Moon was Gorgeous! Be sure to click the pics for a Spooky view!

Awwwwwwww nature! What can beat it??

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!

Hi Carol! Sadie and Jake are really adorable, and the little ones are even more adorable! Your meal looks delicious! And I hope that the rooster is more inclined to find a partner among the hens than Oscar Wilde was! LOL.
Your sky is a great haloween sky!
Thanks for sharing this all!

So glad that Sadie is back to her rambunctious self...she looks great! I would really like to have a few chickens, I think yours are lovely. And dinner looks terrific! Specially dessert! I watched for the Space Station to go by in the light of the moon last night but if I was successful I can't be sure...could have been just space junk for I all know!!

It was forty six years ago that we began our long downhill slide into totally spoiling dogs by teaching our first dog to climb on the bed. It's reassuring to see that we aren't alone in our madness.

(What a fine hen that Vicki is!)

What a lovely day. Your mother is beautiful. My mom's birthday is coming up. It's always a bittersweet day.

Your dinner is making me growl....ohhh Strawberry Shortcake!!?? Stuffed Peppers????

Your girls look happy. It's hard telling them apart isn't it? There are such subtle nuances. You'll eventally notice them. If they'd just sit still long enough!

Oh, glad to know Sadie is doing well. From the looks of it all, everyone is doing well. Love to have one of your mulberry trees. I still haven't found any nursery out here that carries them.

Did I mention that I have been looking for six years for a mulberry tree?

Hi Carol,

What a handsome couple your parents made. Your Mom was beautiful, and, of course you miss her. But she will always be there with you in your heart.

There is always a top hen in every group. Haha. And Oscar Wilde loves his chicken harem, I'm sure.

Can't say that your doggies are spoiled, can you? Haha. So are mine.

Pictures were great. Your dinner sounds good, but I am not a green pepper fan, especially in the cooked form. Don't know why either. I just don't like them. But strawberry shortcake? Oh, yeah!

Just got home here, so got to catch up before dark. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Huggies,

Renie xox

PS. I actually met an editor on my facebook who emailed me for a story. For a book coming in 2010. Yay! Yep, they are there, scouting around.

Something costs $50 at the DOLLAR store?? It should be called the Dollars Store.
Nice purchases, tho.

Alright Sadie! So glad that the surgery was good and she's home. I love the dog steps - we have similar ones, I have to admit.

And the chickens are so cool!

Great moon picts. Have you ever seen the moon wobble up and down? We did, recently. Two of us saw it so we know that the illusion was caused by something real but I can't figure out what.

Your life is so full and interesting.

I wrote you a long time ago about your Rhode Island Red Chickens but I didn't know where to send it so it is out in cyberspace somewhere!!!!!Anyhow what I wanted to tell you is that my mom, during the depression, raised Reds too. Every Spring she would get about 24 chicks and put them in some kind of crate in the stairwell to the basement. She always put a quart jar of warm water in with them and a clock. The males quickly grew into fryers and the hens, of course, she raised and they moved out to the small chicken coop in the vacant lot behind our house. But I can still see her picking them up one by one and petting them. Each morning she would go out to get the eggs and would come in exultant if the yield was good.Even with all that love and personal attention, when they stopped laying this same woman could fix them for dinner. Economiss ruled.

I am sorry about your mom. I lost my mom when I ws 23.So I understand.

So sorry about your dear Mother. Mine has been gone for a while now and I do miss her and think of her often. Your Mom and Dad were a lovely couple.

Enjoyed the other pictures as well. I have tried many times to take a picture of the moon and it ends up looking like a white dot. These you have posted are really good!

I just love a good deal. I too have been looking for furniture for my porch but no luck so far. Your courtyard is really coming along nicely. I like arbors. The boys are looking fat and healthy. I think after losing someone we love those days like birthdays and some holidays are always going to be a little difficult. I am sure you have many fond memories. My hubby still struggles with those kind of days. My folks are still here but live in another state.

So glad Sadie is doing so well. Can you imagine running around just a day or so after a hysterectomy?
Your dogs make me miss Snort a lot and no, I didn't name him, but you know the noise.

I'm catching up with your blog after being away for two weeks---I look at all the things you have going on and think you deserve to be a bit tired once in a while, but I'm sure you will never be bored!
