Garden veggies coming in, company coming for dinner.....
Never a dull moment!
We had a Fish Fry last night and I made slaw from fresh
cabbage and put fresh bell pepper and dill in it! The fish,
bream, bass and catfish all came from our pond!
Life is good at Swiftwater!
We had sliced tomatoes and fresh banana pepper.
However...it was the wild blackberry topping I made for
my cheesecake that made the guest say WOW!
( hubby picked three gallons of Blackberries Saturday morning)
I wasn't fast enough to get a pic!

Gads, no wonder the bees are hanging out at your place, I would too!!! Sounds fabulous.
"hazy, lazy days of summer" ha!
Life is good.
Enjoy your yummy food and good company. I love your Hibiscus!
Life is GOOD!!! I should come have lunch with you!!! My husband and I picked LOADS of blackberried Saturday as well. They were at the camp growing in one of the pastures. We went to town on them!!! We picked until we were both about to fall out! I think we picked around 2 gallons. The field is loaded. I want to go back soon with more help and pick away!
That sounds so yummy. I haven't made cole slaw in quite a while. I always make such a mess. Must have been great to have everything, including the fish, from your own place.
Oh, fried fish sounds so good. Now I have to have some! I'll pick up some tilapia this week. And slaw is a must, too. I'm totally drooling now...
Yummy in my Tummy, Carol... I want some of your dinner.. Of course, you shook the calories out of that cheese cake, didn't you?????? ha
My Smoothie didn't taste quite that good --although the fresh strawberries were delicious.
Hugs,
Betsy
your garden adventures sound so lovely.I don't have a vegetable garden here at Black Street so I am feeling tres envious. What's better than growing your own food. xo from les Gang
I love that bright fushia color.
Your meal sounds delish!!!!
Well, I'll have you know that I picked my first two zucchini's today! So there! And I still wish I was your neighbor!
Our black berries will be ready in a couple of weeks. I'll have to try them on some cheesecake. That just sounds so yummy.
Enjoy the bounty you are so blessed with, Carol!
Huggies,

Three gallons of blackberries - that's worth it!! sounds like you have your hands full with the garden right now:)
Wow! You don't really have to go grocery shopping do you?! Your garden is wonderful!
Um um goooood! All of the above!

Hi Carol
Your menu sounds so good! I love black berries so I would have said WOW over the cheesecake too!
Thank you for your best wishes for all our happy occasions.
YUM!
and oh oh - the Hibiscus is gorgeous!!
Sounds good.
Thanks for the tip off about the roses, I couldn't get the feed from any local garden centre or DIY shops but I did manage to get a spray version which I plan to start using ASAP.... I'll let you know how it goes.. thanks again :)
Mexican petunias. I have never heard them called that before. Mi gusto!
What a busy bee you have been my friend.
I love your Hibiscus, and you're correct about it attracting the bees.
We had Salmon patties for supper this evening, with creamed potatoes and fresh garden peas, though I absolutely love fresh slaw.
I would pass on my main meal, just to eat your dessert...devine !!
fresh garden tomatoes....ahhh. we are so ready for ours to ripen!!
your hibiscus flowers are lovely...
have a great day

Oh, a fish fry sound just perfect for a summer evening!! And I do hope you're planning a blackberry cobbler with that bounty!!
Your life on the farm is rich indeed! My hibiscus - which is in a pot on my terrace - is dying. They must need full sun. It's so hot here my potted plants need water twice a day. And it's only June!!!

That sure sounds good. It really sounds like summer has arrived at your place. I'm starting to look forward to the drought we always get in July and August. It's going to be a while before I get ripe blackberries.
The abundance oozes from this post. Lovely!
Someday I am going to have a hibiscus bush! When we were little we lived on the island of Guam and wore them in our hair. Good memories.
Both meals sound delish , any leftovers , I'll be right over !
The cheesecake with blackberry topping sounds heavenly , may have to give that a try. I plan to pick wild blackberries today.

All looks and sounds (smells?) delicious.
Hope your visit went very well.
Oh lawz...this DOES sound delish! We're still so wet nothing is growing except weeds and more thunder clouds.
sigh.
The weeds do look lush though -smile-.
Yum, yum, yum!
Het there! Beautiful pics. Thought I would buzz over and sheck out your blog since you visited mine.
What's funny...I too am reading the same homesteading book. lol. I just picked it up yesteday. Small world.
Luck me that I had just had lunch
(oh so boring compared to your wonderful fare from garden and pond!), otherwise I would have fallen off my chair reading about your bounty.
Lucky your guests, indeed, cheesecake with fresh blackberry topping!!! *ooooooooooooooooohhhh*
