" Moments of Pleasure "

I thought I'd post today about things that give me pleasure

For the past two or three months, I'm not sure just how
long I have been watching episodes of the awesome BBC
series, The House of Elliott. It ran for three seasons for a
total of 31 episodes. I got it through Netflix and so it was
spread out over a period of weeks. I LOVED this series!!
The ONLY thing I didn't like was that season 3 ended in
a cliff hanger that will never be resolved.......

Beatrice ( Stella Gonet ) and Evie ( Louise Lombard ) Elliott
are sisters left penniless upon their father's death who use
their talent for designing and making clothes to start their
own London Couture Clothing Establishment! The clothes
and hats they wear, will leave you breathless!!

I dream of having Beatrice's hair style..........

Another wonderful arrival from Netflix...........
"Fireproof " starring Kirk Cameron
This is a Christian based movie about the work
it takes to make marriage successful. It is a really
wonderful love story...............

These are the books I've managed to read in May.....
Two wonderful reads by NC author, Louise Howe Bailey.....
Reading is ALWAYS a pleasure.....

Two fabulous mystery reads by Mississippi's Ruth White

"Poe " a collection of 19 new tales inspired by Edgar Allan Poe
and "The Legend of Nance Dude"by Maurice Stanley......
I'm told this book was inspired by Gary Carden's play of
the same title..........This story is a sad but tragic tale of
a NC woman who was convicted of murdering her own
granddaughter.............

Watching the mist on the pond in early morning................

Today was a Misty Mississippi Morning................

Gathering the morning harvest from the gardens...........

Washing Collard Greens harvested from a friends garden

Getting them in the cast iron pot to cook.......

Keeping tabs on their progress till their done................

Seeing what new blooms await my morning stroll.....
Like this beautiful Yellow Hibiscus...........

What a pleasure to see the Trumpet Vine @ the Pond House Blooming

I was given this gorgeous Day lily by a friend a few weeks ago
and stuck it in with the Elephant Ears till I could replant it...
It just continues to give me a bloom a day.....

It was a pleasure to get my Mystery Plant,( it is
a mystery to me and everyone else it seems, just
what this lovely is) planted in a basket where it can
bloom profusely.....

Wathcing our first batch of baby birds get ready to
fly the ledge...........

All 5 of them..................

I love watching this guy feed.......
A male Red-Winged Blackbird..........

The female isn't as pretty as he is

They have a really good time in the new feeder Hubby built
And it's a pleasure to watch................

Have A Great Weekend Everyone !!!!!

Great sights all around you, and a few good reads too. Is that mystery plant a boganvilla (which I'm not sure I spelled correctly)?

Fireproof is absolutely wonderful! I advise every married couple to watch it, no matter how long you have been married or if you marriage is fine or not. It is excellent! I am still laughing over you wanting that hairdo. Print it out and take it to your hairdresser!! It looks somewhat time consuming to fix. I can picture you out in the garden with that hairdo harvesting your veggies! Have a good day

You have so many wonderful pleasures on your blog.

I have never seen or heard of that BBC series, I will have to look for it.

I saw fireproof in the theatre. It was really good.

I don't think I've every had collard greens? Do they taste anything like spinach?

The flowers are beautiful. I have a trumpet vine that blooms scarlet flowers, but this last winter was pretty harsh and it completely died back to the root. Bummer. When I first planted it, it took seven years of growth to get blooms. I hope I don't have to wait another seven.

Your photos are always beautiful! Lots of serenity around you with the flowers and water....
The book about Nance Dude sounds interesting...I will have to check it out.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Nice post, Carol. I love all those things as well. Oh, except the collards. Guess I'm not a true Southerner since I don't like collards or grits.

Thanks for mentioning House of Elliott. I'd love to watch it again so I'm putting it in my queue.

Have a good weekend. Aren't the puppies due soon?

What a nice post Carol. I am liking your morning harvest. What a nice pick. Oh and the greens are making my mouth water. I sure hope I get enough from my few plants of collards.

Jen....the series really is wonderful and addictive! Collards taste more like dark green caggage leaves. This is the first year for the trumpet vine. Thanks for coming by!

Missy...Nance Dude is fascinating!

Carolyn....Collards are wonderful if cooked right! The puppies are due June 24th.

Becca...Cloords are my favorite greens! Thanks for stopping by!

You know Carol, Beatrices's hair only holds up as long as she is in front of the camera:) I can't see her waking up in the morning like that LOL - sorry to burst your bubble:)

Carol
It may sound over the top, but if I haven't said it before I want to say it now...
I just love your whole attitude to life and living.
It is so present.

Ah, Carol, your pleasure are a pleasure to read, from the TV series, to the books, to the beautiful flowers, and all the rest. And I've never had collard greens either, and if they taste like green caggage, I never had those either. Haha!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Huggies,

Renie

What a wonderful bird's nest!! Crowded, too.

I remember The House of Elliot well. My husband and I were hooked on that one when it was shown on A and E some years back. I always wondered whatever happened to the actress who played the younger sister. I have never seen her in anything else.

Happy Weekend!!

I am still learning about how to blog so please bear with me. In answer to your question from mine the azaleas have to be mulched and surrounded with some kind of protection. I used straw but not sure if it was enough so I will use burlap also this winter and see if they do better next season.we did have a very cold winter and more snow. I have only been here 8 years so I am still figuring things out. thak you for your comments ( my name is Alice)

Jeannette...LOL! NOBODY wants me to have Bea's hair!

Your flowers are just beautiful. I would love to have a big pond like that to sit by. I probably wouldn't get much done, though. It will be a while before we harvest anything, then it'll all come on at once and keep us busy.
