" Memories" Artwork by Charles L. Peterson

Thank David @ Authorblog
Post of The Day @ Authorblog

In 1996 at a Art Gallery in Hot Springs, Arkansas, I saw some

awesome prints by artist Charles L. ( Chick ) Peterson. He is

from Door County, Wisconsin. I did not buy the prints, but I

did purchase a set of 5x7 cards with blank insides. The painting

on the front was titled " Family Reunion" which you will see further

down. As most of you know, I love "ghostly" things. His paintings

are wonderful depictions of past and present.............

" Rounding The Horn" from the Maritime Collection

I am drawn to the Memories Collection............................

" Country Doctor"

" Fishing Buddies"

" Evening Lemonade"

" Grandmother's Quilt "

" Homegrown "

" Bedtime Stories "

" Auction Day "

" Best Friends "

" Family Reunion "

" Anderson's Store "

" Return To Gettysburg "

" On Valentine Lane "

" All Aboard "

I hope you enjoyed this look at "a few"

Those are magnificent! Especially love the lemonade one, and Auction Day made me sad.

I have been to Door County many times, since I grew up not too far from there, but never heard of this painter.

The images are really touching. My favorites are the fishing one, bedtime and Auction Day, which made me sad too.

It's hard to say which ones I like most - maybe the two first ones? He has enormous skills!!!

I love them all. They create a melancholy feeling and a longing for the things of the past. They are full of memories lingering in those old places. Thanks for sharing, Carol. Thanks also for the comment on my blog! I believe you are right: it's a Deutzia.

He was a master at his art. The cards are all wonderful in their clarity and then like a gauze over the paintings, the ghostly visitors return. Some happy, some sad; memories.

I did enjoy looking at them, but they are so, so SAD!!
I don't think I could have one on my wall. Don't get me wrong...they are wonderfully done, but too much of a reminder of days gone by that one can never recapture.

What wonderful paintings !
My son-in-law has a painting of a hunter with the ghost of his soldier brother, kneeling beside him, I'm wondering now, if this is the same artist.
Thank you for sharing, they are most inspiring, and touch ones heart.

These are so interesting... ghosts of what once took place on the scene, as well as what's taking place now. I could get all new age on you and say it looks like parallel universes happening at once in the same spot. Never seen anything like this before.

I grew up in the midwest. We went to Door County several times in the summer, renting a little cabin and fishing. Don't have tons of fun family memories, mostly because I was born so far after my siblings, but those are wonderful. I discovered my first hot fudge sundae there and had one every day thereafter when visiting there.
