" It's In The Memory Book"

I'm back today trying to catch up on all of your activities over the past few days! I feel like I've been out of town and am finally home! Ha! What a whirlwind the past few days have been! WHEW! I was exhausted!! We went to bed at 7: p.m last night and slept till 6:a.m this morning!

We had a WONDERFUL time on TG Day! A lot less people than last year, this year it was just a few family members. Here you see left to right; my daughter Melanie( the girl ),my cousin Sheila and my step-mom Jeanette. Melanie's children were at their Dad's this year and her husband Randy had to work, so his family had their TG last night. Melanie left yesterday morning to go home.

Here you see my Dad who will be 82 in January, my cousin David who is a doctor in New Orleans and his mother, my Aunt Wilma. My Dad was so overwhelmed by the dining room he said;
" is this New York or Hollywood" ? There were 8 in all and we had such a good time!

That afternoon David and "the girl" went to see the movie "New Moon ",
Sheila, who is a manager at Walmart had to be at work at 2:am for Black Friday so she went home to sleep. Dad and Jeanette had to get home before dark, David went back to NO after the movie. That night Hubby, Melanie, Wilma and I played SKIP BO till midnight. Hubby is greasing the card shuffler.

Most of you know my favorite place in this world is the Appalachian Mountains ! I try my best to visit at least twice every year, especially in the fall. I did not get to go this fall! :(
I love Cades Cove and the John Oliver Cabin ( below) as John Oliver was the first to settle in Cades Cove.

My sweet husband built me this little cabin and gave it to me on TG morning! Be sure to enlarge pictures and look at the detail. Look at the little chair!

He has the chimney on the wrong side but I LOVE IT!

Look at the little window! He said to me; "I know you're sad you didn't make it to the mountains so I built you this so you would feel less loss about it" AHWWWWWWWWWW!

And.........on TGD, we had another hen start laying ! We are finally getting TWO eggs a day!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE !! I'LL BE AROUND TO VISIT YOU !!! :)

Treasures, all! The family, that precious little house, and your husband!

That little house is so wonderful. Did you know he was making it?

Nice of the chickens to increase production in time for Christmas baking. :)

I missed going home for TG! Loved seeing your pictures. Loved the comment your Dad said, he sounds just like my Dad! Your daughter is lovely and favors you. How sweet! The cabin is wonderful! You have a great hubby! Funny I love the area too, not sure of the places you talked about, but I sure have my favorite places there, tried to get hubby to buy us land there and build a cabin. I love it so much. TWO eggs great, I fell off now only two. While in hospital I have 5 chickens gone. Not sure if someone forgot to shut up the coop at night or hawk or something came in. One was a laying hen that laid everyday since last year. Sad, but so glad the other Chicks and my French Chick are still here. I'm still in lots of pain, Doc says I will be better end of Janurary. Love the cabin and the chicks.

The cabin ( both of them ) are special. Look forward to seeing more of you now! Missed your posts.

I love the cabins! That was so nice of you husband to make you one. Since I'm never going to get a real one, maybe I'll have to settle for one of those, too.

Your husband is the sweetest of them all, the little cabin is so beautiful! How adorable! I loved visiting Cades Cove, we have such unforgettable memories of the Smoky Mountains! The only regret I have is that we were not able to hike because the children were still so little. I can understand that you miss not going there this fall. October there is simply gorgeous, the leaf colors, the blue blue mountain ranges, I can smell the air when I close my eyes!

Looks like you had a terrific Thanksgiving in that pretty new dining room. (love what your dad said)

My dad built my step-mother a similar little cabin because she missed her home in Tennessee. They're both gone now and that seems so strange to me.

Your site, its posting bring back such wonderful childhood memories. My aunts and uncles lived in Taylorsville, a few relatives still remain in the area. Mississippi no doubt still remembers me being there every summer! Thank you for the memories.

All the work on the dining room paid off in terms of a pretty setting for a holiday meal---it will be wonderful for Christmas as well. I love handmade items such as the little replica cabin--what a neat gift from your husband!

Your Dad was right, your settings were right out of Martha Stewart.
I adore the cabin and think you have really found a keeper in that hubby of yours. What a sweetie.
I too love Cades Cove, especially the almost tame deer.

Your daughter is beautiful, just like her mum! What a dear, precious gift your husband made, he is not only very a clever craftsman, he is also obviously a very loving and caring husband too. I love family get-togethers, they are rather few and far between now because we are all so scattered, and sadly, we have lost everyone now from the generation before us. We don't have Thanksgiving over here, Christmas is the time when most families come together. I am glad you had a lovely, if exhausting time - welcome home Janine.

Your hubby is so sweet to make that for you and because you didn't get to make the trip. He did a lot of work to get so much detail.

I love family! Your family is so lovely, Carol. Adore that little cabin. I want a real one, small and cozy, snug deeply into the woods.

Skip Bo - you're the first person I have ever heard mention that card game outside of the teenage girls' shelter I visit every month. I always have to play - and get beaten - by whichever group of girls is there. It's an obsession with them. A fun one, though!

Your Thanksgiving feast looks like a great success.
I admire your hens, for some reason chickens seem like extra nice birds to me, to have around.
The miniature cabin your husband made is perfect and very thoughtful.
