" May Flowers "

As you know ~~~ April showers bring May flowers! We had lots of rain in April and the flowers are wonderful ......
This Rose is bowing from all it's blooms ~~~~~

This bed just takes my breath away!
I'm always amazed by the different colored roses a Joseph's Coat turns out !!

The Pond House Amaryllis are just beautiful ~~~~~

WOW !!

I forgot to show this in the last post, we had also planted a Pomegranate Tree

I think that may be fruit bursting out of this bloom ~~~~~~~~~~~

Max is on guard watching the girls free range ...................

Yesterday, my dear friend author Carolyn Haines, picked up her "Harper Lee Award" at a luncheon during "The Harper Lee Festival " in Monroeville, Alabama! This award recognizes Alabama's Distinguished Writer of the Year ~~~~~~~~~

She also was presented a signed copy of " To Kill A Mockingbird " !!
OMG !! I would just be stepping high over that !!!!!!
That's OK Carolyn ~~~ You can live MY dream!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your Roses are beautiful! Today is May Day. Happy May Day!! This week was Harper Lee's Birthday. My husband was raised not too far from Monroeville and we lived down that way for a short time. I always wanted to meet Miss Lee, but that did not happen. I have been to the Court house there. A lot of history.

It must be getting pretty warm down south. Your flowers are beautiful. I'm so excited because, on my 7th, my middle son is getting married at Scribner Winery in the Sacramento area. It's the first wedding in our family. He and Laura have been together six years and she is a beautiful girl. Sad, though, that his older brother, an AF reservist, is being sent to Germany this week for two to four months active duty and has to miss this event. He was to be best man!

Happy May Day...your flowers are so pretty. I am still waiting for some blooms to appear here in the cold mid-west.I will venture a walk through the garden this week and see if anything has happened. We did have a beautiful lightning storm last night, where the lightning blots stay in the big puffy clouds. Have a nice weekend.

Happy May Day! Gorgeous yard! And like a true writer, you save the amazing climax for the end -- wow! What an honor for your friend! Thank you for passing along so much happiness! ♫♫

Your roses are just magnificent! Just right to have a happy May Day. I worked all day in my rose garden, prunin', feedin' and mulching. I have big old buds all over the place but no roses yet. I'm just plumb gitty waitin' for them to open.

God bless ya and have an enjoyable weekend.

Lovely! I have a few roses opening and there are buds on the Joseph's Coat. I'm excited. And I do envy you the pomegranate. We planted one when we lived in Florida -- such beautiful blooms!

What an honor for Carolyn! Well deserved!

I'll be one of many authors reading from To Kill a Mockingbird at Malaprop's Books in Asheville on July 12 -- the 50th anniversary of its publication

I am so glad you were not hit by those tornadoes. We dodged the bullet here last night.
I was a bit surprised that Harper Lee was still alive. To meet her would be an amazing thrill. A signed book almost as much of one. What a wonderful award for your friend.

Your garden is beautiful, and your dog is a joy doing his guard duty. I see how you might be so happy to know a Harper Lee Award recipient. You do run around with great company, Carol.

Beautiful roses, I can almost smell them. How wonderful for your friend, to have a signed Harper Lee copy!

Oh my goodness, a signed copy of that book would be a dream!

Is your Joseph's Coat a climber? It is such a striking rose!

I love pomegranate trees! Had one in Memphis that my mother had given me, but it was too large to move. :(

So wished I had known about this Harper Lee Festival in Monroeville, I might have attended!

What an honor for your friend. There are not many people I would care to have their autograph, but Harper Lee is one that I certainly would like.

Such a small world, Ms Lee's sister was the attorney who drafted my father's will...

Your flowers are just lovely!

Hi Carol!

Your roses are lovely! Such vibrant flowers! And the pomegranate tree brought back memories. I grew up with a pomegranate tree. They're fun to wrangle the seeds out of (and even funner to explain to people that yes, you DO have a pom tree in your back yard!).

I hope all is well,
Jen

Your roses are just beautiful! I don't have much luck with roses. I have two bushes, but they aren't anywhere near blooming.

Thank you for the wonderful tours of your gardens and the chicken coop!

The pomegranate tree looks promising! Imagine, I saw the first pomegranate trees not so long ago near Vienna, at Prince Eugene's summer palace, and shortly after on an island in the Venetian Lagoon. They are such beautiful trees throughout the year. I wish you lots of joy with yours!

Gorgeous flowers, Carol. You're planting is paying off. I think I might plant a pomegranate tree, too. It has such an elegant feel...glad to see that all is well in your part of the world!
