" Winter Confusion "

Yesterday it was sunny and 70 degrees.....of course I know Mother Nature was just teasing us into thinking Spring had arrived! I wasn't gonna let her confuse me but............

This morning I got out early and found I might not be the only one suffering confusion.
The sky seemed to be confused as to "weather " to storm or be sunny..........

I also found that the Forsythia might be suffering also......It's trying to bloom in February!

All this new growth in the Rose bed wasn't so confusing because I've been covering and uncovering it during the freezing cold nights and sunny days........

I'm determined to help Spring along...........

I'm clear headed about seeing the Roses bloom....SOON !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Italian Parsley is confused too.........it had all froze out but look what I found this morning!

The Rosemary has remained green through it all! No confusion here............

Yesterday, Hubby goes to gather the eggs. He comes in and says to me; We got 6 and 1/2 eggs but one was busted so we have 5 and 1/2 eggs. Now I'm on the couch reading and I think to myself, one half egg? What is he talking about? Come look he says! Well blow me down! Isn't that the cutest little egg ? Talk about confused! Who laid that? Now we are not " chicken experts", so I call one. She says that sometimes when a hen molts, she will "lay out". The eggs will get tiny and have nothing in them. I haven't cracked this one but it's too heavy to have nothing in it...........

However Queen Vicki is moulting...........

See her bald spot??

That's Miss Trixie GoLay in front of her who was the first to lay. So I'm confused......
Shouldn't she be the first to moult??? HELP???

Now the whole chicken gang is confused because I never enter the pen without a treat.....
Sorry gang, I'll be back with a treat later............. :)

No confusion here.... the Peek Gang along with TC the cat are napping..........
L to R....TC, Patch, Sadie and Jake........

OOPS! This is Monkey Man, he used to be called Duke but when he was tiny he had the face of an Organ Grinder Monkey so we started calling him Monkey Man and it stuck. He is confused because he still hasn't figured out how to get up on the couch with the others........

The one thing I'm not confused about is......Today is Queen Vicki's namesake Vicki Lane's Birthday! Go Here and wish her a Happy Birthday!

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooh tthanks for the trip around the farm this morning, everyone looks fat and sassy !
Those puppies and cat have it made.
Hmmm poor little egg, maybe it was a "sampler".
We have lovely 66 degrees again today, and then maybe snow in the week....sheesh.

It was a teaser of a day! Usually, by this time, we are in the mid 60's for highs and the early azaleas are blooming. Thanks for the tour of the farm. Great pics!

A lot of my plants are confused! I am soooo ready for Spring and some warm weather! Today was gorgeous, and we actually reached 70 degrees!

Have a good one!

What a fun post to read! And neat photos! Everything is green here because of all the snow and rain.

I put duct tape over the backs and down the sides of my chickens with bald spots if they take a long time molting. It will fall off when the feathers come in. Duct tape is a lot cheaper than buying chicken saddles.

Love that cake! I think I will make myself a cake tomorrow.

My daffodils are up a couple of inches and my phlox is blooming and my forsythia is ready to burst ... I'm like, "Hold on everyone, it's not springtime yet!". Three beautiful, mild days, but snow flurries and cold temperatures are in the forecast. So it goes ....

We had a wonderful "tease of spring" weekend with a fire and dogs playing and daffodils springing up from the ground. Back to colder temps starting today. One more week..........maybe.

We didn't have 70, but a warm and sunny weekend anyway. I'll just enjoy it and not worry about what it might mean. Love the chickens.

Things are justas confusing here. A crocus bloomed and I said, AH HA spring is just around the corner. But I have other crocous;non have peeped above the soil.

Despite digging mountains of Naked Ladies last September some are peeking through. We knew they would but is a tad early for them.

My forsynthias have buds but none opened yet.

I'm with the dogs let's tak a nap and when we wake up see what else is confused.

I think our temps dropped 20 degrees in just a couple of hours yesterday! Winter isn't through with us yet!

I think that we all are confused too. The weekend was fantastic. Soaked up some sun and now the cold is coming back to bite. Well we all expect it living here in the south.

What does 'molting' mean?

Hi Carol ~ We had a gorgeous weekend , but it's raining today. We got one of those 1/2 eggs last year when Mya molted , it was so cute. I accidently dropped it while showing it off (LOL), but it did have a yolk and was a normal egg , just tiny.

~ Many Blessings ~

What a fun post. I love these pictures. It's been exactly like spring in the Pacific Northwest for days now. If winter decides he's not quite done, we're all going to be in for a shock.

Love your pictures! The weather here in Texas is going back and forth as well. It has been sunny and warm, yet tonight we are getting a light dusting of snow. On the egg, my hens lay those once in a while. Some have yolks and some are just clear fluid. Stay warm! blessings,Kathleen
