40 Days & 40 Dozen

It hasn't really been 40 days of rain, but after days and days of it and 8 inches of it, it feels like 40 days have passed. It didn't get quite this bad......but had it kept it up, it would have.....

Today however the Sun is going to shine and here it is getting started........
I've kept very busy during all the days of being shut in. I made this wreath for the inside of the front door......

I have baked all kinds of goodies and made candy............Seems like 40 dozen

These are Cream Cheese Fruit Pound Cakes........They have a Vanilla/Rum Sauce Glaze on them.

There are 3 different kinds of cookies here...........

These are Rum Balls..........

This is Manna, a really simple candy. You melt an 11 ounce bag of butterscotch morsels
in a glass bowl in the microwave. Stir in 1 cup of peanut butter. Add 6 cups of corn flakes.
Stir the mix up well and form into balls or drop spoon fulls on wax paper. It taste like Butter Finger Candy Bars. You can also make it with chocolate morsels.

Today I'm making Date Loaves and fudge............
I've been a Good For Nothing Blogger these last few weeks but I have to get this all done by the weekend..........Then I'll be back on a regular basis.

I'm so glad ya'll survived all the rain! You have been one busy gal. I love the idea of the corn flake candy. I may try it and dip it in chocolate. Sorry, but I have this motto: If it ain't chocolate~~it ain't worth the calories! Hi, my name is Nezzy and I AM a chocoholic!

Have a great day enjoying all your decorations and goodies!!!

Fruitcakes look particularly yummy.
I see you are making date nut cake.

Have you ever made date roll?

I'm not know as an overall good cook but I was the family reknown candy maker and this was a specialty among Texans.

It is unbelievably rich. Surprisingly my husband who claims to hate dates loves them.

If you don't have a recipe I have one out of a Texas cookbook. There is nothing particularly Texan about it, except popularity.

Some of ingredients include condensed, not evaporated, milk, pecans and sugar, low humidity day. I use a candy thermometer. It is rolled in cheesecloth or I used a clean white men's handkerchief.

Rainy here, too! I can't believe the mud in our yard (and getting tracked in our house by the kids!) :)

My, you have been a busy little bee! I am just starting my baking today. If I start too early, there is nothing left by Christmas. Everything looks so good. We too, have had lots of rain. I am happy for the break, even though it is cold. We did not get the last rain the folks like you south of us got. The cold beat it here. But still hard to walk outside without getting shoes wet.

You are doing what I wish I was doing. In my jammies and warm heater or fire going and baking christmas goodies with music on. You have been busy making all those sweets.

We certainly had our share of the rain too. Some areas here recieved over 12 inches in 24 hours.

You are busy Carol... Sorry about all of your rain. We have had some --but not nearly as much as you.

That manna sounds great... I may have to do that since I love peanut butter and butterscotch.. BUT--my 'biggie' to make (for my kids) is My Orange Balls.. That is a recipe from my mother.

Good Luck with your busy-ness.... That is what Christmas is all about.
Hugs,
Betsy

Good grief you've been busy! Ha! I've always heard God gave rainy days so gardeners can get their inside work done.

How are the chickens in all that rain? My girls don't like the damp weather at all.

Oh my, you are amazing. One thing that aggravates my back pain beyond belief is standing in the kitchen and cooking/baking. So, except for making dog food, I've given up on it. When things get really bad, my husband makes the dog food.

So, I'm very impressed that you have the stamina to make so many delectable treats!

Christmas looks wonderful at your house! We've got about two feet of snow on the ground which has followed rain, rain and more rain. I'm not sure but I think I'd rather have snow -smile-.
