Thanks, Carol. I just downloaded "The View from Delphi" for my Kindle. It was inexpensive and I know I will likely go to our local bookstore for "The Healing." You haven't steered me wrong yet good blogger buddy.

I have read both books and in some ways preferred The View from Delphi although The Healing is destined to a a classic. They are both powerful--Healingbeing a poetic vision and Delphi a rollicking adventure in the early Civil Rights era. Both touch the heart and engage the mind and memory of the Southerner. Jonathan Odell is destined to become a legend in his own time.

You should have stopped and browsed the Ms Signors Art Gallery. It was full of antiques and nick-nacks. She has passed now. I am not sure what is in those stores now.

I am reading an older book, The Collectibles. I seem to be drawn to books where there are "CAIN and ABEL similarities. Although not brothers, the good vs. evil is there, but home the ending is not predictable.

My brother had two children, male and female which also remind me of this from "beginning of time" story. The daughter is the picture had successful marriage, two sons, both grown and successive. The son is a scoundrel who has bankupted my brother so he now lives on public welfare.

I reread TALE OF TWO CITIES recently. I feel we are sinking into the abyss of the aftermath of the French Revolution. There is a fine line to walk between EXCESS rule of law and NO rule of law. Mixed in moral values,or lack thereof, will always contribute to mass behaviorial upheaval.

I, too, am a Christian. I don't wear it on my sleeve, but I certainly have never buried it. I am not a a RACIST. I am from the South and we had a maids of several ethnicities. All served as babysitters, too, and had authority to punish us short of spanking, which was reserved by my parent. Believe me, they reported to parents our ever transgression.

Don't even get me started on Political Correctness.

Unfortunately, I do not expect anything to change, and given the field the Republicans have, my expectations will probably remain a big goose egg --zero.

Thre are millions who are with you. We just don't have an answer. I re-read Tale of Two Cities, and because I fear we can become anarchy of France where everyone's life was in peril of the guillotine for small infractions by mob rule as the rule of law became onerous and with great partiality, and virtually disappeared.

I profess to be a Christian, and since I work in a church office I do know of requests. Being small, we help when we can. Most of us work outside our church at Food Pantries, individually, and through other charitable groups.

Arkansas is a poor state. Then we do have to screen. My husband and I chose a Christmas Wish # and were shocked we had to cut the Bar codes off everything, so parents would not exchange children's gifts for money for alcohol and drugs. The world seems to be upside down and off its axis.

But NO ONE can stop us from prayer, especially silent prayer, any time, any day, any place.

I know Haley personally, and when I was in the airport in St. Louis a few weeks ago and saw what he did I almost spit out my Diet Coke. I texted my husband: "What in the HECK was Haley thinkin'?" And he texted back: "I know."
I was and am totally shocked. Just shocked!!! I don't know when I'll see him again. He is moving back to his DC office soon and if and when I see him I plan on asking him. I am shaking my head....

I totally agree, Carol... And they say that I am a RACIST since I do NOT like Obama. Huh???? Just not true. I just don't think he is a leader --at all... Yes--we had trouble BEFORE he was President, but look how much worse off we are NOW --since he has been in office. The worst thing a President can do is to totally be partisan, and try to divide the country into classes.. He wants to take from the ones who have worked hard and made it in this country and give to those (like the Protestors) who don't want to work or even try to make it.... Drives me insane!

Then there's that horrible Political Correctness... Recently a high school somewhere had to take down a beautiful prayer that had been posted on the walls in their school for many many years... Why?? Because ONE student objected... What?? How can one person have that much power and control over the rest of us??? It's terrible....

I could go on and on and on --but you get the idea. You are totally correct with your thoughts..

You go Carol. That is shooting straight from the hip and hitting the mark. I totally agree. It scares me what is going on here in our United States. I really don't think things will change much no matter who gets elected. I'm concerned about our relationship with other countries - people who could mow us down. I'm concerned with our oil prices. I'm concerned we will go into another war withing within the next 18 months. I am concerned about our justice system - it's bad enough that so many criminals walk and so many are locked up who don't deserve to be there and then someone like Barbour plays nice like it never even happened - pleez give me a break. There is so much like you said and we could go on and on.
