MERRY CHRISTMAS BLOG BUDDIES

As of yesterday, this blog is 2 years old! My how time does fly! What a wonderful experience it has been to meet so many wonderful people from all over the world via this blog!! 2010 has been a hectic year around here and I haven't been able to post or visit other blogs as much as I'd like but I so appreciate each and every one of you and want to wish you all a Blessed Christmas Season!!
We have been doing a little remodeling at both of our homes and do to our age and aches, it hasn't been easy but is still rewarding and worth the effort. My step-mom Jeanette is at home and doing great and Daddy is much better now that he's back in his comfort zone.
We are trying to scale down our animal population so we can spend more time at the mountain house as we both love being there. Eric has been selling off some of the cattle. I prayed for and found three wonderful homes for Sadie, Jake and Patch. It was a sad day to see them go but you just cannot travel with three small dogs and Jake and Patch did not like being in a car and Sadie did not do well at all at the boarding kennel and the cost was outrageous to board three dogs.
Eric's brother-in-law up the road can tend to the chickens, Max and the cattle for us but the little dogs were another matter.
I'm beginning to understand that life is about change and adaption to the change. We decided to take this year off from decorating for Christmas. I'm not being a scrooge I just don't have the energy to put it up and take it down. It's gift cards and a quite Christmas in the mountain house for us. We know we are really blessed and just want to attend a Christmas Eve service and give thanks to God for the birth of his son!
LOVE TO ALL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you have read any of my recent blogs, we, too, have been adapting, adjusting and letting go.

I recently let go of 22 boxes of so called clutter to the Humane Society. Clutter is not accurate as many were boxes of pictures in frames, slide carasels filled with slides of our early married life, and and unbelievable list of many other things. However, I had little regret of sending two ironing boards.

We adjusted our budget to include a housekeeper, as my atrial fibrillation is limiting my heavy activities. With a possible medical procedure in my future, neither of us wish to be burdened with a dusty house.

We do still have one dog, neither of us will be able to let go. She is getting old too.

But I have let go of my political ambitions just in time. The public has become disenchanted with the mayor and council and is recalling all one month AFTER I resigned. I have let go of several organized activities like the Police Auxiliary.

We have clinged to our church and Life Group activities. I do not believe I would be able to let go.

I eliminated cards and Xmas letters two years ago, big dinners and gifts none needed at the same time. All such funds are donated to various needs, mostly through our church, but others, too.

We each buy ourselves one gift called Christmas-price unquestioned. Since I already bought a Kindle--that is it, although I am getting my wedding rings stretched to fit my finger--not cheap around here.

So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Enter your New Year refreshed .

I can't imagine the cost of boarding three dogs. We have a dog sitter come to our home once a day when we're gone. She plays with the dog, feeds him, and takes him for a walk. He's always outside, so he doesn't miss us as much as if he was under foot. Still, for just one dog it's $20/day. Imagine for three!

I'm just putting up the ornaments I love, which means the Christmas icicle lights, front and back, and the Christmas tree. Then I pop some poinsettias in the front flower bed and I'm done.

Merry Christmas, Carol. IF you all were in Townsend today/tonight--you would see TONS of pretty snow. It has been snowing here all day long --and will all day tomorrow. Pretty---but terribly cold!!!!!

Hope you and your sweetie have a wonderful Christmas --and a blessed 2011.
Hugs,
Betsy

Wow, 2 years already? So glad to hear that some things are settlling down for you guys and know just how you feel about the dogs, but your decision was most likely best for them and that's whats important.

Happy holidays Carol, to you and yours. Be safe and happy.

Merry Christmas Carol! Hope you enjoy the holidays in your mountain home. Snowing like mad in my part of east TN, with howling winds and cold, cold temps/wind chills. Hang on if you've got that over in Townsend!

So sorry the pets had to go. I do understand though. I find it tough when I travel and take Buddy along. I take him everywhere though. YOu be careful. The weather is horrible like so many bloggers have commented.

Oh Carol, I so understand how hard having that many pets can be, especially when traveling. Christmas in your mountain retreat sounds delightful. Wishing you many blessings at Christmas and in the New Year. Happy Holidays, cher! Cheers!

I think change is a good thing, especially if it makes life easier.
I've so enjoyed visiting back and forth throughout the year, and hope to continue in the new year.
Best wishes to you and yours, and hope you get to enjoy that mountain cabin you've worked so hard to make a reality :)
Hugs,
Jo
